Head of Middle East & Africa
Beat joined Swiss Re in Zurich in 1994 as an Account Underwriter for the Latin America unit. From 1996 to 1997, he worked in Madrid, Buenos Aires and Zurich in various functions and projects for the Spanish and Latin American market units.
In 1998, he was appointed Head of Swiss Re Property & Casualty business in Venezuela and was later transferred to Buenos Aires as Head of the regional office servicing Argentina, Chile, Paraguay and Uruguay.
In 2002, he relocated to New York to head the Client Markets area for the Latin American unit and assumed the position of Head of Latin America in 2006. Beat moved to Munich in 2009 following his appointment as Market Executive for Austria, Central & Eastern Europe.
In 2010, he assumed additional responsibility for the newly created role of EMEA Broker Executive. Beat has played a leading role in building EMEA’s C-Suite relationship management with the large reinsurance brokers and implementing our strategy within this segment.
In 2014, Beat transferred back to Zurich, when he took over the leadership for the Facultative P&C Business Unit in EMEA. As per March 2019, Beat has been appointed Head of Middle East & Africa, and is in the process of relocating to Cape Town.
Beat holds a degree in Finance with a specialty in insurance and risk management from the University of St.Gallen in Switzerland.
